20 May Writing by Design’s President to Help Award $15,000 as Judge for UW Oshkosh High School Business Model Competition
While taking time to rest and recharge on the weekend is important, so too, is taking time to pursue and support your passions. And that’s exactly what Patti Purcell, Writing by Design’s founder and president, is doing this Saturday, May 22 when she will serve as a judge for the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (UWO) Wisconsin High School Business Model Competition.
Contest participants, who are all high school students, will present their business idea or solution in a professional setting to a panel of judges. The stakes include $15,000 in UWO scholarship awards and cash prizes that may be used to support their entrepreneurial endeavors or to pursue higher education.
“As an entrepreneur myself and the founder of a woman-owned small business, I get goosebumps just thinking about the opportunity these young entrepreneurs, our future leaders, have through this business model competition,” Purcell said. “I’m excited to be able to have a positive influence on students as they develop their presenting skills and begin their entrepreneurial journey. It’s an added bonus for me to be back at my alma mater and giving back by nurturing the business ventures of the next generation.”
The UWO Wisconsin High School Business Model Competition will take place on Saturday, May 22, 2021, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on UWO’s Oshkosh campus (UWO Reeve Union, 748 Algoma Blvd). Twelve teams from across the state have been invited to share a 3-minute pitch.
