Writing by Design Wins Two Davey Awards, Two Years in a Row

Appleton-based marketing agency Writing by Design recently won two Silver Awards as part of the 16th Annual Davey Awards. The recognition was earned for creating a COVID-19 business resiliency program survival guide for their client, LiftFund’s Women’s business Center of Dallas.

Writing by Design received Silver Awards in both the Design and Print Collateral-Other and Craft-Copywriting categories.

“I joined the team in late June and immediately jumped into the COVID-19 materials, which ranged from animated PowerPoints to handouts and the survival guide,” said Matthew Wodenka, Writing by Design writer and account manager. “It was a challenging first project to step into, but it was rewarding to know we were helping fellow small businesses with the resources we were putting together.”

The LiftFund COVID-19 Business Resiliency Program Survival Guide is a 24-page digital flip-book to provide small business owners with information, resources and guidance to navigate the pandemic.

“Winning the work gave our Wisconsin-based small business a much-needed boost in the midst of a pandemic,” said Patti Purcell, Writing by Design president. “It not only provided us financial support, but also really meaningful work knowing we could provide first-hand experience and knowledge to our peers in Texas.”

The guide is designed for small business owners and solopreneurs in Texas to learn how to rebuild and recover, prepare for future crisis and become resilient business owners.
