New Hires Position Writing by Design for Marketing Agency Growth

Writing by Design, LLC, a marketing and innovation agency serving national and international clients, has added two new account managers to its marketing communications division.

Jess Lisbeth and Jo Phillip bring with them more than 32 combined years of experience having served in both internal and external agency settings before joining the Writing by Design team.

“As we’ve grown, we’ve realized how much of the work we produce for our clients goes beyond just writing assignments,” explained Patti Purcell, Writing by Design president. “We recognized the need to hire individuals who have experience with creating all kinds of marketing communications to keep up with our clients’ demands so these hires will help us deliver on that need.”

For nearly 12 years, Lisbeth has supported strategic marketing initiatives for a variety of audiences and industries including nuclear power, retail, financial services, safety and compliance. Often dealing with highly regulated and technical content, she has helped companies like NextEra Energy, Inc., J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc., and Principal Financial Group® develop and edit copy to make it more relatable and accessible to the average reader.

For more than two decades, Phillip has researched, written and edited creative communications for organizations including Lawrence University, local agency Brand Directions and Gulf News in Dubai, U.A.E. She has also taught professional writing as well as writing for the web at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and at Fox Valley Technical College. Her work has engaged audiences and supported clients in the B2C, B2B, higher education and nonprofit fields.

Together, Lisbeth and Phillip present a portfolio that spans consumer media, marketing, packaging and advertising, as well as regulatory, academic and educational research, writing and editing. Their work has included direct mail, ads, press releases, whitepapers, blogs, magazines and newsletters, websites, speeches, mobile apps, books and even instructional design. At Writing by Design, both Lisbeth and Phillip will serve as direct client contacts, providing expertise in strategic, marketing and business communications while managing projects with client-centered efficiency.

For Lisbeth, joining the Writing by Design team offers much more than an opportunity to demonstrate her communication and copywriting skills—it’s a chance to be part of something bigger than herself.
